Through this traditional Filipino gesture, this act of respect affects how we as Filipinos interact and confront our elders. This gesture creates a way for elders see the younger generations demonstrate our knowledge of their culture and the respect that they have for them and for others, even if their not related to you personally. Nonetheless, doing this simple expression, to show respect, will create a mindset that is good for elders to have when thinking of or about you.
